I am involved with CAP because it is necessary that the planning capability which I am passionate about building in South Africa, Southern Africa and the Continent more broadly requires credible and experienced knowledge networks and exchanges. I also believe that it is critical to have an international platform for advancing the cause of Planning and that our profession requires international solidarity to promote the benefits of planning and sustainable, integrated development.
My hope is that CAP can take knowledge exchange on practical planning issues to a greater level with programmes that can benefit planners directly on the ground in the various commonwealth countries. I hope to that serious attention can be given to developing countries that are part of commonwealth in this regard and the global resources and capacity divide can be bridged.
My hope too is that CAP can become an active global voice for planning, and be a central part of global planners network/organisations and global planning issues.
