As VP-Americas and a member of the Canadian and Belize planning associations, my principal focus is on the Americas. In the Caribbean, my interests will focus on supporting the CAP/Caribbean Planning Association’s “Strengthening Professional Planning Capacity to Advance a Caribbean Urban Agenda” project, which is promoting new planning associations, capacity building and communications in the Caribbean. This project will enhance many of the objectives of CAP and planning generally. In terms of Canada, I will promote a continuation of Canada’s long history of supporting community planning in the Caribbean and around the world.
I am also interested in promoting planning internationally. As part of the CAP executive committee, I was involved with others in promoting an urban-focussed goal for the Sustainable Development Goals. I see this as a foundation for strengthening planning’s role in urban development worldwide. It will lead to programming focused on urban needs.
